Rebirth of Over-the-Rhine Documentary

I found the documentary to be interesting in the sense that it opened my eyes to the dark side of gentrification. Revitalization of OTR is great and is needed but how can it be done without moving the local residents out because they cant afford to live there anymore.

Enjoy! http://vimeo.com/17533828

  1. This was a good documentary, thanks for the posting.

From my perspective, the documentary conveyed that there were organizations within the OTR district that are trying to keep these local residents -- those that had a drive to contribute to their community -- by providing them with necessary shelter and accommodations. 3CDC is obviously in the front in developing very key areas in this district to breathe life back into these vacant lots.

Many of the members (developers) that spoke tried to maintain the bones of the buildings they acquired and hailed such preservative qualities, but I think you might be right in the fact that they are missing the social/conceptual side of preserving the fabric of this culture.

    PS. That school... yikes!
