Industrial/Apartment Case Studies

Industrial
Zahner Factory Expansion / Crawford Architects

This Project was focusing on the need for more production space and the client wanted to showcase their ability and product. The success of this project is through its showcase of what the work space is producing, both through the facade assembly and the connection to the neighborhood. Displaying the process of the production to pedestrians and adjacent buildings. It helped the company display its expertise in material manipulation/assembly and artistic possibilities.

Mackmyra Gravity Distillery / TEA

The project focused on housing the unique program requirements and also tying the circulation to the production for the use of tours as well. The program comprises the process from top down due to the gravity process used, so production begins at the top and ends in the casks at the bottom. Some of they key aspects were linking production and circulation, and use of material to provide a link to the production from the exterior.

Marmelo Mill / Ricardo Bak Gordon

This Project was focusing the functionality of the space to be the largest olive oil production plant in Portugal; also to keep the mill as close to the trees as possible. Some the components to the design were creating a shielded work environment during the winter rain season, and also to develop two layers the base(dark) and shelter(light).

Basket Apartments in Paris / OFIS architects

Some of the things that stood out with this complex was the use of orientation and creating a rhythmic facade which breaks down a sizable block of volume and provides for a smaller feel as a whole. the site conditions provide for a long narrow lot with a focus on the rail line and cyclist and pedestrian circulation. The use of material was catching in the project as well.

Huski Apartments / Elenberg Fraser Architecture

The basis of the design centered around the study of the snowflake and Australian timber alpine huts. The building responds to the delicate surrounding environment while utilizing the steep site to maximize views of the Kiewa valley and Mt Spion Kopje, and allowing the scenery to penetrate every apartment. I like the geometries of the biulding as well as the use of the timber facade.

Isover Multi-Comfort House Proposal / Evgeni Leonov Architects

This proposal is based upon efficiency an developing a new style of housing. There proposal talks towards efficiency of the volume developed for the homes, creating a community/ lifestyle that's address today's issues of economic/ energy issues. The broad scope of the proposal is what caught my attention and the sort of evolution of an older lifestyle.
